Provide access to the International Baccalaureate

Waterford School Trust is a UK charity with the sole object of promoting and encouraging education at Waterford Kamhlaba school in Swaziland, by raising funds for the bursary programme for African students. This school is part the global United World Colleges educational movement that brings students from all over the world together - selected on personal merit, irrespective of race, religion, politics and the ability to pay - with the explicit aim of promoting peace and international understanding.

The "Funding for the African Student Bursary Programme at Waterford Kamhlaba Swaziland" project is based on the school's vision to provide a world-class education to the best and brightest students in Southern Africa. Waterford Kamhlaba is committed to producing graduates with leadership skills and a strong sense of community and compassion so that once qualified, they return to re-invest their skills and expertise in Africa.

The school aims to identify candidates in African countries that are experiencing conflict or post-conflict conditions or those that have been most severely affected by the AIDS pandemic. The bursary programme currently supports 130 students.

Through its support to the Waterford School Trust project in Swaziland, the Addax Foundation contributes to the following project to meet local needs:

  • The funding of bursary provisions for 7 students chosen to complete the two-year International Baccalaureate diploma programme, commencing in January 2009
