39 students (boys and girls) voluntarily participated in the Gentiana Primary School's activities. The environmental activities included:
1. Forest clearing - a portion of the Ngong forest was cleared by the students to enable them to walk freely in the forest. This activity also raised awareness on the need to conserve endangered tree species.
2. School compound tending - students helped the guardian to look after the school's trees and vegetation during the weekends.
3. Naming trees" - students were taught the indigenous and scientific names of species in order to sensitize them on the need to protect trees.
The social activities included:
1. Slum cleaning - the Kawangwar slum was cleaned by the students. This activity facilitated the flow in the sewage trenches. However, poor drainage systems continue to be a challenge in this area.
2. Accompanying small children - small children were guided to and from school in groups to ensure that they arrived safely.
3. Assisting HIV/AIDS victims - over the weekends and public holidays the children helped HIV/AIDS victims in their neighbourhood by cleaning and tending their homes and compounds.
